clare agnew design

Clare Agnew holds a degree from Kingston Art School, a Diploma from Cirencester Agricultural College and has studied The Decorative Arts at the V&A Museum.

Having gained a Silver Flora Medal in 2005 for her Grand Tour Garden (sponsored by Savills), Clare once again exhibited at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May 2008 and The Reflective Garden (sponsored by Ruffer LLP) won a Silver Gilt Flora Medal in the Show Garden category.

The Reflective Garden played on two of the senses: as the eye surveyed the reflective pools the ear was drawn to the sound of running water in the background. The garden was calm, tranquil, textural and reflective, largely green but interspersed with a few jewels. It had a geometric layout, both on the ground and vertically, and the planting scheme drew its inspiration from marshes, ditches and reed blocks.

Clare undertakes several projects each year and approaches each with a completely open mind. As the images throughout this website will testify, where possible her work carries a strong sense of structure and geometry, textural foliage, grasses and flowers.

Eschewing computer-aided design, Clare prefers to illustrate her concepts in pencil, acrylics and watercolours. Based in Norfolk and London Clare would be delighted to hear from anyone interested in creating a bespoke solution to their particular gardening conundrum...
